Buffer Seals

Buffer seals are used to protect the rod seal from pressure spikes.  A buffer seal's design incorporates channels that allow fluid to flow around the buffer seal under normal operating conditions.  In the event of a surge in hydraulic pressure, these channels bottleneck the applied pressure and prevents the spike from reaching the rod seal.

Standard Buffer Seals

Used to protect rod seal from pressure spikes. Our PTFE rod contact surface provides low friction and long seal life. Heavy-duty rod seal for applications requiring low friction and service at extreme temperatures

  • Features: Protects rod seal from pressure spikes; low friction with improved rod seal life; vents back pressure
  • Applications: Provides secondary sealing to reduce the effects of pressure spikes; Medium duty cycle
  • Materials: Filled PTFE & Nitrile

Premium Buffer Seals

Used for extreme pressure spikes and for larger rod applications. This product was designed to vent backpressure

  • Features: Protects rod seal from pressure spikes; low friction with improved rod seal life; vents back pressure
  • Applications: Provides secondary sealing; High duty cycle; Recommended for large rod diameters
  • Materials: Filled PTFE & Nitrile 
  • Max Pressure: 10,000 psi
  • Temperature range: -50 °F to +250 °F
  • Max Velocity: 3.2 ft/sec
